Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor and its sequel Rainshadow Road are interesting books. I preferred the first installment simply because it’s a sweet story about losing family and making your own with who you have left.
Sam’s story is not as intriguing because it is difficult to follow the romance with magic thrown in at odd intervals. The original characters are in full force but our heroine seems a little dry. Still the romance could have been interesting however the magical elements interfere with the story. What began well in Christmas Eve, doesn’t continue as well.
I have yet to read the third and fourth books, no doubt I will as I hate to not know how things end, but I will begin them with trepidation.
Two and a half stars to Rainshadow Road and three stars to Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor.
